Synister Dane and the Kickapoo Disco Cosmonuts: Press

Oh, and not sure if you're one of the delightful rabble-rousing yahoos in Synister Dane, but congratulations for at least knowing them - and thanks for turning me on to them, I'm so glad I bought the disc - I've never had so much fun driving through Chicago in the middle of a Saturday night :) The toll-booth personnel I encountered that evening were probably wondering what in the sam hell kind of ruckus-raising was going on in that vehicle with all the organic stickers and some kind of hillbilly music about farming... :)
Take Great Care!
Teri - A soon-to-be farmer/educator of the joyfully sustainable sort
I did listen to the CD on the way home since my radio reception is good under a broadcast tower but fails at 1 mile and as I gave Allen most of my hard borrowed cash to acquire it. I have to say it kind of grows on you. Kind of like a virulent mold. Actually, I thought it was pretty darn good especially with all the studio work that you can never duplicate on stage. That’s OK because a stage show decays with the progress of the show but someone is going to hear the same take over and over again on a recording without the visual context of the live performance. In short, the CD works. Very nice pickin’ too I might add. The ‘bone could be a bit louder in the Rainy Day mix but it works too. The best are the originals in my mind. Which reminds me, “Yesterday, Mark, I sold the old John Deere”. A bit emotional since I’ve been running that 2640 since 1985 but I don’t have a shed for it any more and it only gets used about 10 hours a year now. Awful handy for those few moments but the lawyer has most of my grocery money at this point. “The guy who bought it’s going to paint it up and put it on his pony ride farm.” Outside San Diego of all places! “I guess that’s the way these things go.” Ponies and old tractors are “just something to paint a picture of,… and tell your kids that that’s the way they lived in the old days, son……”. Still can’t get the farming out me entirely.
By the way, I wasn’t sure on the credits if you are meant to be listed as the “Nut & Tree Farmer” or as “The Nut and The Tree Farmer”. I can only guess.

ok. we've listened to the CD about half a dozen times. to be honest, i have a permanent grin on my face while listening to it. i'm sure it has something to do with the fact that i know you guys.
i am literally listening to sam and daisy sing "i like beer" while i write this. a great way to end the CD and mark's impersonation of homer is priceless. and of course sam and daisy have memorized the dough, ray, me part by heart.
i think my favorite is "this land is our land" although "mad cow" and "crazy" are right up there too.
sam thinks you guys ARE crazy. i know this because while listening to the CD the 2 main comments from him are "these guys are crazy" or "these guys are insane". he also likes the song "crazy", especially when jim talks about eating a fast food burger at 70 miles per hour. he laughed pretty hard at that one.
and dearest daisy, she fast forwards through the whole CD to get to "i like beer". i wish i had video of her dancing around the kitchen with the hugest smile you've ever seen singing at the top of her lungs. pretty damn cute.
your display at the co-op looks great. i hope you sell every last one!!
great job.

…on the really great CD!! Am enjoying SD in the comfort of my own little apartment in Poteau, Oklahoma. Your good music travels a long way. Thanks for the evening’s pleasure. DO keep it up.

BTW. Was good to see you in La Crosse. Sorry it was so brief…but that happens. Maybe beers next time??

Take care!
George
Hey -
GREAT CD!!! I was wondering if you have the lyrics to the songs available?

I think I have listened to the CD so much this weekend, that I might be wearing it out!

thanks!
